Automotive plants and tier-1 suppliers
Design, DMU and GD&T knowledge is valued in product and quality teams.
The Sriperumbudur–Oragadam belt is one of South India’s densest clusters of electronics, automotive and appliance manufacturing. These are the courses its engineering teams use.
01Sriperumbudur–Oragadam
Within an hour or so of Chennai, this corridor is home to car makers, component suppliers, electronics assemblers and appliance plants, together with the ecosystem of tooling, fabrication and logistics firms that feed them. Hiring leans toward diploma and engineering graduates who can read drawings, operate automation systems and keep production data tidy.
Shift patterns make weekday classroom learning hard for many workers, so online batches suit this belt. Learners who want hands-on time on design software can pair them with a few weekend lab visits.
Design, DMU and GD&T knowledge is valued in product and quality teams.
Embedded, PCB and PLC skills feed manufacturing engineering.
CNC programming and 3D CAD drive daily work.
02Courses that fit
Digital mock-up skills for car-programme engineering teams.
40 hReading and applying tolerances on supplier drawings.
16 hThe CAD platform used widely in automotive product design.
40–80 hLine automation and controls.
44–64 hBoard design for electronics manufacturers.
20–48 hCNC programming for tooling shops.
40 h03Joining from Sriperumbudur–Oragadam
Workers and fresh diploma holders in this belt typically join live online batches. A hybrid option adds short sessions at Ranipet or Katpadi for lab work.

05Careers
A mechanical design engineer turns a product idea into accurate 3D models, assemblies and 2D manufacturing drawings.
Day to day: create 3D part models and assemblies from sketches, specifications or customer inputs; prepare detailed 2D drawings with dimensions, tolerances, GD&T callouts and bill of materials.
Skills employers ask for: Clear communication with shop-floor and quality teams; Basic strength-of-materials calculations; 3D part and assembly modelling in SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo or NX.
Where careers start: Trainee / CAD Draughtsman.
A PLC / automation engineer designs, programs and maintains the control systems that run machines and production lines.
Day to day: configure VFDs, sensors and field instruments; design HMI and SCADA screens with alarms and trends.
Skills employers ask for: Variable frequency drives; SCADA and HMI development; Electrical and control fundamentals.
Where careers start: Trainee / Service Engineer.
An automotive design engineer designs the parts that make up a vehicle, such as body-in-white panels, plastic interior trims, brackets, seating structures or chassis components.
Day to day: model plastic trims, sheet metal panels and brackets in CATIA; prepare 2D drawings with GD&T for supplier release.
Skills employers ask for: Vehicle systems knowledge (body, interior, chassis); Plastic part design rules; Digital mock-up (DMU) and packaging studies.
Where careers start: Design Trainee.

Still have a question? Message us on WhatsApp.
Ask on WhatsAppYes. GD&T, CATIA and PLC courses build on diploma-level drawing and electrical knowledge.
CATIA is more common in automotive design teams; SolidWorks appears more in general machinery. Ask for a short demo of each.
Within an hour or so of Chennai, this corridor is home to car makers, component suppliers, electronics assemblers and appliance plants, together with the ecosys A sensible order is Automotive Design & DMU first, then GD&T once you are comfortable.
It is a pair of courses. Automobile Design Concepts teaches how vehicles are planned, from architecture and packaging to aerodynamics and EVs. The DMU course teaches how to review a full 3D vehicle assembly for fit, clashes and clearances.
There is one GD&T programme on this page. It is usually taken along with or after a CAD course such as SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA or Inventor.
Yes. CareerKraft runs live, trainer-led online and hybrid batches with the same syllabus, projects and certificate as classroom batches, so learners in Sriperumbudur–Oragadam do not have to relocate.
