CATIA Course in Vellore, Katpadi & Ranipet

Learn CATIA V5 to model parts, assemble products, design sheet metal and surfaces, and create drawings used in automotive and aerospace work.

2 levels40–80 h178 topics3 centresClassroom · Online · Hybrid

01What is CATIA

What is CATIA? In plain words.

CATIA is a 3D design system from Dassault Systèmes. Version 5 (V5) is still the most common release in Indian design offices. It is organised into workbenches – Sketcher, Part Design, Assembly Design, Generative Sheetmetal Design, Wireframe and Surface Design, and Drafting – each with its own tools. Engineers use it to build solid parts, assemble products, shape smooth outer surfaces and prepare 2D drawings, all linked through the specification tree.

CATIA is closely linked with the automotive and aerospace sectors, where car bodies, interiors, aircraft structures and their tooling are designed. Vehicle makers, aircraft programmes and the engineering service companies that support them often ask for CATIA V5 by name. A designer who is comfortable with its sketch constraints, dress-up features and surface tools can take up body, trim and structural design tasks with far less on-the-job training.

The Chennai–Bengaluru corridor that runs through Vellore district is home to many car, two-wheeler and component plants, and Chennai and Bengaluru host large automotive and aerospace design centres. CATIA skills give mechanical and automobile students from Vellore, Katpadi and Ranipet a direct route to these roles.

What you will be able to do

  • Navigate CATIA V5 workbenches, toolbars, compass and specification tree
  • Draw and fully constrain profiles in the Sketcher
  • Create parts with pads, pockets, shafts, grooves, holes, ribs, slots and multi-section solids
  • Apply dress-up features such as fillets, chamfers, drafts, shells and threads
  • Assemble products using coincidence, contact, offset and angle constraints
  • Design sheet metal parts with walls, flanges, hems, bends and unfolding
  • Build wireframe geometry and surfaces such as extrudes, sweeps, fills, blends and multi-sections
  • Produce drafting sheets with projection, section and detail views and dimensions

Ask on WhatsApp
What is CATIA V5?

CATIA V5 is 3D design software from Dassault Systèmes. It is used to design parts, assemblies, sheet metal and surfaces and to create drawings. It is especially common in automotive and aerospace design.

Who can join the CATIA course?

Mechanical, Automobile, Aeronautical and Production students, diploma holders and working designers can join. Basic computer knowledge is enough. Engineering drawing knowledge helps you learn faster.

How long is the CATIA course?

Essential in CATIA is 40 hours and Proficient in CATIA is 80 hours. Both cover sketcher, part design, assembly, sheet metal, wireframe and surface design and drafting; Proficient goes much deeper, with practice after every session.

Is there more than one level?

Yes. Essential in CATIA (40 hours) builds the foundation; Proficient in CATIA (80 hours) is the complete, job-ready programme. Your counsellor helps you choose based on your background.

Can I take CATIA classes online?

Yes. Classroom, online and hybrid modes are offered, depending on trainer availability. The centre will tell you which modes are open for the next batch.

Can I attend a demo before joining?

Yes, ask your chosen centre on WhatsApp or phone about a demo or counselling session. They will show the software and explain the syllabus.

Will I get a certificate?

Yes. On completing the course and assessment, you receive a certificate from CADD Centre, our training partner.

Do you help with placements?

We give placement support – resume help, mock interviews and job leads. A job is not guaranteed; your skills and portfolio make the difference.

How much does the CATIA course cost?

Please contact the counsellor at your chosen centre. They will share the current fee, any offers and EMI options on WhatsApp.

Do I need my own laptop?

No, for classroom batches the centre provides systems. For online classes or home practice, you need a Windows laptop able to run CATIA; the counsellor can share the recommended specification.

What jobs and salary can I expect?

Common roles are CATIA design engineer, BIW or trim designer, surface modeler and detailer. Fresher pay usually starts around ₹2.4–4.2 LPA and grows with experience and in metro cities. These are indicative figures only.

Which centres run CATIA training and what are the hours?

All three centres – Katpadi, Vellore and Ranipet – run CATIA training. Hours are Monday to Saturday 9:30 am to 6:30 pm and Sunday 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
