Read real production drawings
Most drawings from automotive and precision component companies carry GD&T callouts.
Learn to read and apply GD&T on engineering drawings – datums, symbols, feature control frames, fits and bonus tolerance.
01What is GD&T
Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is a symbolic language used on engineering drawings. It tells the machinist and the inspector exactly how much a feature's form, orientation, location and profile may vary, measured from clearly defined datums. The rules and symbols in this course follow the ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard, which is still widely used on drawings in Indian and global companies, along with its later revisions.
Plain plus-minus dimensions cannot always control how parts fit and work together. GD&T fixes this, so design, manufacturing and quality teams read one drawing the same way. Automotive, aerospace, machinery and precision component companies expect design engineers, CNC programmers and quality inspectors to understand feature control frames, MMC and LMC, and bonus tolerance. It is one of the most useful add-ons to any CAD skill.
02Why learn it
Six reasons students and professionals in Vellore district pick this skill.
Most drawings from automotive and precision component companies carry GD&T callouts.
Designers, CNC programmers and inspectors all use GD&T every day.
Just 16 hours, so it fits easily alongside college or work.
Understand hole and shaft systems, IT grades and fits so parts assemble as intended.
SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA or Inventor designers who know GD&T produce drawings that are ready for manufacture.
Datums, MMC, virtual condition and bonus tolerance are frequent questions in mechanical interviews.
03Who can learn
Understand the drawings you will see in industry.
Read tolerances correctly on the shop floor.
Apply correct GD&T callouts on drawings you create.
Interpret feature control frames for CMM and gauge inspection.
Know which features and datums control your setup.
Discuss drawings clearly with customers and vendors.
04Levels & syllabus

Engineers, designers and quality staff who want a compact 16-hour course to read and apply GD&T on drawings.
05Your next step
This page offers one focused GD&T programme. It pairs well with any CAD course – take it alongside or after SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA or Inventor so your drawings carry correct tolerances.
Start here. Core tools, workflow and a practice project.
Industry-style exercises, advanced features and a portfolio project.
Complete programmes that combine several tools and a capstone project.
06Hands-on
You learn by making real deliverables – reviewed by your trainer before certification.
Pick suitable fits for a bearing seat and a sliding shaft using hole- and shaft-basis tables.
Choose primary, secondary and tertiary datums for a machined bracket and mark them on the drawing.
Calculate bonus tolerance for a positioned hole pattern at different actual sizes.
Add feature control frames for flatness, perpendicularity, position and profile to a part drawing.
Get the full syllabus PDF, current fee, offers and the next batch date on WhatsApp – usually within minutes during centre hours.
