01What is PLC & SCADA

What is PLC & SCADA? In plain words.

A PLC (programmable logic controller) is a rugged industrial computer that reads sensors and switches and turns motors, valves and lamps on or off according to a program. SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) software sits above the PLCs and shows the process on screen, with live values, alarms, trends and recipes. In this course you write ladder logic and function block programs, wire relay panels, and build SCADA screens in tools such as Siemens WinCC, Wonderware InTouch and Omron CX-Supervisor.

PLCs run conveyors, filling lines, packaging machines, water treatment plants, boilers and building systems. Factories, process plants and machine builders need people who can read a ladder program, find a fault, change a timer or add an alarm without stopping production for long. Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron and ABB controllers are all common in Indian plants, so knowing more than one platform and a SCADA package makes an electrical or instrumentation engineer far more useful on the shop floor.

Ranipet's SIPCOT industrial estate and BHEL unit, and the auto, electronics and process plants along the Chennai–Bengaluru corridor in Sriperumbudur and Hosur, all run on PLC-controlled equipment. PLC and SCADA skills give EEE, ECE and diploma students from Vellore and Katpadi a practical route into these plants.

Ask on WhatsApp
What is PLC and SCADA?

A PLC is an industrial controller that runs machines and processes from a program, usually written in ladder logic. SCADA is software that shows the process on screen and lets operators monitor values, handle alarms, view trends and send commands.

Who can join this course?

EEE, ECE, EIE, mechatronics and mechanical students and graduates, diploma holders, ITI electricians and maintenance engineers can join. A basic understanding of electrical circuits helps.

How long is each course?

The Mitsubishi course is 44 hours. The Siemens/Omron, Honeywell/ABB, general PLC and SCADA, and Siemens/ABB courses are 64 hours each.

Which PLC brand should I learn?

Siemens is very widely used in Indian industry and is a safe first choice. Choose Mitsubishi, Omron or ABB if your target company or plant uses that brand; the ladder logic basics are common to all.

Will I work on real PLC hardware?

Programs are written in the manufacturer's software and tested on a PLC or simulator, and the course includes panel and relay wiring practice. Ask your centre about the hardware available in your batch.

Can I learn online or in hybrid mode?

Classroom, online and hybrid modes are offered, depending on trainer availability. Classroom sessions are best for wiring and hardware practice.

Can I attend a demo before joining?

Yes, ask your chosen centre on WhatsApp or phone about a demo or counselling session. They will explain the syllabus for each brand.

Will I get a certificate?

Yes. On completing the course and assessment, you receive a certificate from Livewire, our training partner.

Is placement support provided?

We offer placement support such as resume help, mock interviews and job leads. We do not guarantee a job; practical skill and interview performance matter most.

What is the course fee?

Fees depend on the course you choose. The counsellor at your chosen centre will share the current fee, offers and EMI options on WhatsApp.

Do I need a laptop?

No, centre systems are available during class. A Windows laptop helps if you want to practise with simulators at home.

Which centre can I join and what are the timings?

PLC and SCADA courses run at our Katpadi, Vellore and Ranipet centres. Centres are open Monday to Saturday 9:30 am–6:30 pm and Sunday 9:00 am–2:00 pm.
