Built for control drawings
Symbols, ladders, wire numbers and cross-references are handled by the software instead of manual drafting.
Learn AutoCAD Electrical to draw control schematics, number wires, lay out PLC and panel drawings and generate BOMs and wiring reports.
01What is Electrical CAD (AutoCAD Electrical)
AutoCAD Electrical is Autodesk's version of AutoCAD built for electrical controls design. On top of normal drafting it adds a project manager, standard symbol libraries, smart wires with automatic wire numbering, ladder and PLC I/O tools, panel footprints linked to the schematic, and audits and reports such as bills of material, wire lists and terminal plans. A change made in one drawing is tracked across the whole project.
Control panel builders, automation integrators, OEM machine makers, EPC contractors and plant maintenance teams use AutoCAD Electrical to produce motor control circuits, PLC wiring and panel general-arrangement drawings. Employers ask for it because it cuts drafting time and errors: component tags, cross-references and reports are created by the software rather than typed by hand. Knowing panel sizing, protection devices and earthing makes a designer even more useful.
02Why learn it
Six reasons students and professionals in Vellore district pick this skill.
Symbols, ladders, wire numbers and cross-references are handled by the software instead of manual drafting.
Footprints placed in the panel layout stay linked to the components in the schematic.
Generate BOMs, wire lists, terminal plans and panel reports straight from the project.
Insert PLC modules and number I/O wires to match the controller.
The Proficient level adds MCB/MCCB selection, bus bar and conduit sizing, fuses, relays and earthing.
Panel builders, automation firms and EPC contractors all need electrical draughtsmen and designers.
03Who can learn
Add a design tool that matches control and power engineering jobs.
Move from wiring work into drafting and panel design.
Document PLC I/O and control circuits properly.
Switch from plain AutoCAD to faster, report-driven electrical design.
Read, update and prepare as-built panel drawings.
Understand how machine control circuits are drawn and documented.
