01What is Electric Vehicle (EV) Design

What is Electric Vehicle (EV) Design? In plain words.

Electric vehicle (EV) design brings together batteries, electric motors, power electronics and vehicle dynamics. These programmes explain how an EV is built and how its main systems are sized: the battery pack and its battery management system (BMS), the motor, inverter and transmission that make up the powertrain, and the auxiliary systems, sensors and CAN bus that tie the vehicle together. MATLAB-based modelling is used to simulate performance and range.

India's two-wheeler, three-wheeler, car, bus and battery makers are all building EV teams, and component suppliers are adding motors, chargers and battery packs to their product lines. Employers look for engineers who understand battery chemistry and pack calculations, motor selection, power converters and model-based design, not just general automobile knowledge. These courses give that EV-specific base.

Vellore sits on the Chennai–Bengaluru corridor, close to EV and component makers around Chennai, Sriperumbudur and Hosur. EV skills let engineering students from Katpadi, Vellore and Ranipet aim for this growing sector without moving far.

Ask on WhatsApp
What is taught in the EV Design course?

There are three 40-hour programmes: EV Battery Design (batteries, packs and BMS), EV powertrain design (motors, converters, drive modelling and simulation) and EV technology and operations (architecture, vehicle dynamics, sensors, CAN bus and MATLAB simulation).

Who can join the EV courses?

Engineering and diploma students or graduates in EEE, ECE, mechanical or automobile, and working engineers moving into EVs. Basic physics and electrical fundamentals are expected.

How long is each programme?

Each of the three programmes – EV Battery Design, EV powertrain design and EV technology and operations – is 40 hours. You can take one or combine them.

Which EV programme should I choose first?

If you are new to EVs, start with EV technology and operations. Choose Battery Design if you are interested in packs and BMS, and Powertrain Design if you prefer motors, converters and drive systems.

What jobs and salary can I expect?

Roles include EV design trainee, battery pack or BMS engineer, powertrain engineer and simulation engineer. Freshers typically start around ₹2.5–4.5 LPA, with more in metros and with project experience. These figures are indicative and vary by company, city and skills.

Can I take the EV Design course online or in hybrid mode?

Yes. EV Design training is offered in classroom, online or hybrid mode, depending on trainer availability at your chosen centre. The counsellor will confirm which batches and modes are open when you enquire.

Is there a free demo class?

You can ask for a demo or a counselling session at the Katpadi, Vellore or Ranipet centre before you join. It helps you see how classes run and meet the trainer. Message the centre on WhatsApp to book a slot.

Will I get a certificate?

Yes. On completing the programme and its assessments you receive a course certificate from the training partner through CareerKraft. It shows the exact programme title and can be added to your resume and LinkedIn profile.

Do you provide placement support?

Yes, we offer placement support: help with your resume and portfolio, mock interviews and sharing of job leads we come across. We do not promise or guarantee a job – your skills, practice and interview performance decide the outcome.

What is the fee for the EV Design course?

Fees change with the level, mode and current offers, so we do not print them here. The counsellor at your chosen centre will share the current fee, any offers and EMI options on WhatsApp.

Do I need my own laptop?

Classroom batches use the centre's systems. For online or hybrid learning you need a laptop that can run MATLAB for the simulation sessions; the counsellor can tell you the recommended setup.

Which centre can I join and what are the timings?

The course runs at all three CareerKraft centres – Katpadi (Near Aascars Cinemas, Katpadi), Vellore (CSI Complex, Anna Salai, near Raja Theatre) and Ranipet (Krishnagiri Trunk Road, near SBI, Muthukadai). Centres are open Monday to Saturday 9:30 am–6:30 pm and Sunday 9:00 am–2:00 pm.
