01What is Python

What is Python? In plain words.

Python is a general-purpose programming language known for its clean, readable syntax. It was created by Guido van Rossum and is maintained as open source by the Python Software Foundation. You can use it to write small automation scripts, desktop tools, web applications, data analysis programs and machine learning models. A large set of libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib and Django means you rarely start from scratch.

Python is used by IT services companies, product startups, banks, research labs and data teams across India. It is a common first language in colleges and a regular requirement in job posts for developers, testers, data analysts and ML engineers. Employers look for people who understand the core language well – data structures, functions, OOP, exceptions and files – and can then pick up a framework or library for the job.

Vellore and Katpadi have many engineering and arts colleges, including VIT, and IT hubs in Chennai and Bengaluru are within reach. Python helps students from Vellore, Katpadi and Ranipet prepare for campus drives and IT jobs in these cities.
