How to become a Data Scientist / ML Engineer
Build models that predict, classify and learn from data. Learn Python, data science, machine learning and AI.
01The role
What does a Data Scientist / ML Engineer do?
A data scientist uses statistics, programming and machine learning to find patterns in data and make predictions, such as which customers may leave, which transactions look fraudulent or how much stock to order. An ML engineer takes those models further, making them reliable, fast and ready to run inside real products. Both roles need a strong base in Python, maths and data handling, plus curiosity about the business problem.
Typical tools include Python libraries such as pandas, scikit-learn and deep-learning frameworks, along with SQL and cloud platforms. Banks, e-commerce, healthcare, manufacturing and IT firms in Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad build data science teams, and generative AI is adding new roles. Freshers usually enter as analysts or junior data scientists, so realistic projects and clear explanations of results matter more than buzzwords.

05FAQ
Data Scientist / ML Engineer – FAQ
Still have a question? The counsellor at the centre you prefer replies on WhatsApp.
Ask on WhatsAppHow much maths do I need?
You need statistics, probability and basic linear algebra. You do not need to be a mathematician, but you must understand what models do.
Can I become a data scientist as a fresher?
Some freshers do, but many start as analysts. Solid projects and fundamentals improve your chances.
Is Python enough?
Python is the main language. SQL is also essential, and cloud basics help for ML engineer roles.
What is the role of generative AI?
Generative AI tools create text, images and code. Knowing how to use and evaluate them is becoming a useful extra skill.
What projects stand out?
End-to-end projects with real data, such as churn prediction or demand forecasting, with a clear write-up of results.
