01About the course

What you will learn in CATIA

CATIA is a 3D design system from Dassault Systèmes. Version 5 (V5) is still the most common release in Indian design offices. It is organised into workbenches – Sketcher, Part Design, Assembly Design, Generative Sheetmetal Design, Wireframe and Surface Design, and Drafting – each with its own tools. Engineers use it to build solid parts, assemble products, shape smooth outer surfaces and prepare 2D drawings, all linked through the specification tree.

This page is for learners outside Vellore, Katpadi and Ranipet – NRIs, professionals in the Gulf and other countries, and students elsewhere in India who want CATIA taught live by a trainer.

Basic computer use is needed. Knowledge of engineering drawing and orthographic views will help you follow the sketching and drafting sessions.

At a glance

05Projects

Practice projects

Connecting rod or crankshaft part

Model a part with pads, pockets, shafts, fillets and patterns, fully driven by constraints.

Universal coupling assembly

Assemble all components with coincidence, contact and offset constraints and check the motion-ready layout.

Sheet metal bracket

Design a bent bracket with flanges and hems, then unfold it to get the flat pattern.

Bottle or mouse surface model

Build wireframe curves and multi-section and fill surfaces to shape a smooth product.
