Hydropower developers and contractors
Civil, structural and electrical design roles.
Nepal’s hydropower, construction and tourism sectors need engineers, planners and hospitality staff. India is just fifteen minutes behind you.
01Nepal
Hydropower projects across the Himalayan rivers, a steady stream of construction work in Kathmandu and Pokhara, and a tourism sector built around trekking and heritage create technical and service jobs. Many young Nepali professionals also look to the Gulf and India for work.
Nepal runs fifteen minutes ahead of India, so live class timings are essentially identical, and recorded sessions help in areas with weak connectivity.

08Study plan
At around seven hours a week, alongside college or work. Faster or slower is fine; finish each project before moving on.
05Your learning path
You will learn to
Project to build: Footing design set. Design isolated, combined and mat footings in STAAD Foundation Advanced from the frame reactions.
Tools covered: RC Designer (interactive concrete design), STAAD.Beava for bridge decks, STAAD Foundation Advanced, DXF, CIS/2 and SACS export, Steel design module.
Professional level: Civil and structural engineers who want the full 80-hour workflow including seismic, dynamic analysis, interactive RC design and foundation design.
You will learn to
Project to build: Shear-wall building. Add shear walls to a multi-storey model, run the analysis and check the wall design results.
Tools covered: Flat and waffle slab modelling, Frame, slab, deck and wall sections, Modal and response spectrum analysis, Section Designer, Quick templates, stories and grid systems.
Professional level: Engineers heading into structural design offices who want 80 hours including slab systems, seismic and non-linear analysis.
You will learn to
Project to build: Road alignment to IRC criteria. Design a horizontal alignment and vertical profile, apply design checks and superelevation, and generate the corridor.
Tools covered: Parcels and right of way, Volume surfaces and earthwork reports, Intersections and roundabouts, Survey database and field book import, Gravity pipe networks.
Foundation level: Beginners who want a solid 40-hour grounding in survey data, surfaces, earthwork and basic road corridor design.
You will learn to
Project to build: Cable and transformer sizing. Size feeder cables and a distribution transformer for a given load list.
Tools covered: Load flow analysis, Transformer sizing, Ground grid design (IEEE and FEM methods), Motor acceleration study, ETAP.
Foundation level: EEE graduates and working engineers who want the full 64-hour programme with every ETAP module, a final project and interview preparation.
06Careers
A structural design engineer makes sure buildings, bridges, towers and industrial structures stand safely under their own weight, people, wind and earthquakes.
Day to day: apply dead, live, wind and seismic loads as per IS codes; check contractor queries and support site visits.
Skills employers ask for: Reinforcement detailing and bar bending schedules; Revit Structure detailing; ETABS modelling for multi-storey buildings.
Where careers start: Graduate / Trainee Engineer.
A highway or road design engineer plans the geometry of roads, from village link roads to national highways and expressways.
Day to day: import survey data and build digital terrain models; create typical cross-sections, corridors and junction layouts.
Skills employers ask for: Plan-and-profile drawing production; Coordination with survey and site teams; Earthwork and quantity calculation.
Where careers start: Trainee / CAD Engineer.
A power system engineer studies how electricity flows through generators, transformers, cables, lines and loads, and makes sure the network is safe, reliable and efficient.
Day to day: model systems and control behaviour in MATLAB; prepare study reports for clients and site teams.
Skills employers ask for: Power quality and harmonics basics; Transformer, cable and switchgear selection; Power system fundamentals (per-unit, faults, load flow).
Where careers start: Graduate Engineer.
PLC and SCADA engineers keep factories, water plants and process lines running. Here is what the work involves and how EEE, ECE and E&I students can get started.
