01About the course

What you will learn in Electrical Power System Analysis

Electrical power system analysis is the study of how a power network behaves – how much current flows in each cable, what happens during a fault, whether transformers and cables are sized correctly, and whether protection relays trip in the right order. Engineers do these studies with software, and ETAP is one of the most widely used tools for it. This course starts with power system basics and substations, then teaches single line diagrams and the main ETAP study modules.

This page is for learners outside Vellore, Katpadi and Ranipet – NRIs, professionals in the Gulf and other countries, and students elsewhere in India who want Electrical Power System Analysis taught live by a trainer.

A background in electrical engineering (degree or diploma) is recommended, as the course assumes you know basic circuits, transformers and machines. Basic computer use is enough for the software part.

05Projects

Practice projects

11 kV/400 V substation SLD

Draw a complete single line diagram of a distribution substation using standard symbols, first on paper and then in ETAP.

Industrial plant load flow

Model a plant network in ETAP and check bus voltages, loading and losses with load flow analysis.

Fault level and breaker check

Run a short circuit study and compare fault currents with breaker ratings.

Cable and transformer sizing

Size feeder cables and a distribution transformer for a given load list.
