Sohar and Duqm port and industrial zones
Marine drafting, piping and logistics roles.
Oman’s ports at Sohar and Duqm, its oil sector and a growing special economic zone call for plant, port and planning skills.
01Oman
The Sohar industrial port, the Duqm special economic zone with its port, drydock and refinery, and the oil fields operated from Muscat employ marine, mechanical, electrical and logistics staff. Muscat’s construction and hospitality sectors add drafting, MEP and accounts roles.
Many Indian professionals in Oman work shifts at remote sites, so recorded sessions alongside live classes help them keep pace.

06Careers
A mechanical design engineer turns a product idea into accurate 3D models, assemblies and 2D manufacturing drawings.
Day to day: prepare detailed 2D drawings with dimensions, tolerances, GD&T callouts and bill of materials; maintain design revisions and release files through the company's PDM/PLM system.
Skills employers ask for: Sheet metal and surface modelling; GD&T and tolerance stack-up basics; Design for manufacture and assembly (DFM/DFA).
Where careers start: Trainee / CAD Draughtsman.
An MEP / BIM engineer models the mechanical, electrical and plumbing services of a building in 3D and makes sure they all fit together.
Day to day: build HVAC, plumbing, fire-fighting and electrical models in Revit MEP; produce coordinated shop drawings, sections and schedules.
Skills employers ask for: Navisworks clash detection and review; Quantity take-off basics; MEP design concepts (HVAC, plumbing, fire-fighting, electrical).
Where careers start: BIM Modeller (MEP).
A 3D visualiser creates realistic images, panoramas and walkthrough videos of buildings and interiors before they are built.
Day to day: produce walkthrough videos and quick views in Lumion; prepare working drawings and material lists for site execution.
Skills employers ask for: Basic AutoCAD for plans and working drawings; Colour, lighting and material selection; Space planning and interior design principles.
Where careers start: Junior Visualiser / Design Assistant.
