02Inside the course
What the STAAD.Pro internship builds on
STAAD.Pro is structural analysis and design software from Bentley Systems. Engineers use it to build a model of a structure – a building frame, truss, tower, bridge deck or industrial shed – apply dead, live, wind and earthquake loads, and then check how every beam, column and slab behaves.
Working through STAAD.Pro, you will learn to create structural models using grids, nodes, beams and the Structure Wizard, edit models quickly with repeat, mirror, rotate, split and merge tools and assign sections, materials, member releases, offsets and supports.
You will work with STAAD.Pro Connect Edition, STAAD Editor and command language and Structure Wizard; the Essential in STAAD.Pro programme includes modules such as Introduction and Interface, Geometry Creation and Structure Wizard.
Roles to aim for include Structural Design Engineer (Trainee) – builds STAAD.Pro models and runs analysis under a senior engineer's guidance and Structural Engineer – designs RCC and steel members and checks them against code requirements. Basic computer use and a civil engineering background (diploma or degree, or pursuing one). Knowing strength of materials and RCC/steel design basics helps you get much more from the course.

Is it a paid internship?
It is a fee-based internship course you can take while still studying, with a mini-project and certificate. It is not a job and does not include a stipend. Graduates who have completed their degree can apply for a stipend-based internship with CareerKraft on our Work with us page.
What is STAAD.Pro used for?
STAAD.Pro is Bentley's software for analysing and designing structures. You model a building, shed, tower or bridge, apply loads such as dead, live, wind and earthquake, and the software finds forces and deflections and designs concrete and steel members.
Who can join the STAAD.Pro course?
It suits BE/BTech and diploma civil students, structural postgraduates, site engineers and civil draughtsmen. You should be comfortable with a computer; knowing basic structural analysis and RCC design makes learning much easier.
