01What is Mastercam

What is Mastercam? In plain words.

Mastercam is a CAD/CAM software from CNC Software used to create toolpaths for CNC machines. You bring in or draw a part, choose tools and cutting parameters, and Mastercam generates the path the cutter will follow. It then simulates the cut and posts out the G-code the machine runs. Its Dynamic Motion toolpaths are known for cutting faster while keeping tool load steady.

Mastercam is used in machine shops, tool rooms, die and mould makers, and in automotive and aerospace component suppliers. Employers ask for CAM programmers because a good program cuts cycle time, protects costly tools and avoids scrapped parts. People who understand both machining and the software can move from machine operation into programming and process planning.

Ranipet's SIPCOT estate and the auto-component belt around Chennai, Sriperumbudur and Hosur run many CNC machining shops. Local diploma and ITI students can use Mastercam skills to move from operating machines to programming them.

02Why learn it

Why learn Mastercam now?

Six reasons students and professionals in Vellore district pick this skill.

From operator to programmer

CAM skills let CNC operators and machinists move into programming, which is a more skilled and better-paid role.

Widely used in tool rooms

Mastercam is common in job shops and tool rooms that do VMC milling of components, dies and moulds.

Covers 2D and 3D milling

You learn contour, pocket, drill, engrave, dynamic milling, 3D roughing and finishing in one programme.

Safer, faster cutting

Dynamic milling and OptiRough teach you how modern toolpaths reduce cycle time and tool wear.

Practice-heavy sessions

Every theory session is followed by a practice session so you build real toolpaths yourself.

Manufacturing basics included

The course starts with manufacturing processes, CNC machines and NC codes, so beginners are not left behind.

03Who can learn

Who can join this course?

Diploma in Mechanical and Tool & Die students

Adds CNC programming to your shop-floor knowledge.

ITI machinists and CNC operators
