Battery pack sizing
Choose cells and size a pack for a target range using energy consumption over a driving cycle.
Learn how electric vehicles work and are designed – batteries and BMS, motors and powertrains, vehicle dynamics and range simulation. Live trainer-led classes for learners worldwide, with hybrid and 100% offline options in India.
01About the course
Electric vehicle (EV) design brings together batteries, electric motors, power electronics and vehicle dynamics. These programmes explain how an EV is built and how its main systems are sized: the battery pack and its battery management system (BMS), the motor, inverter and transmission that make up the powertrain, and the auxiliary systems, sensors and CAN bus that tie the vehicle together. MATLAB-based modelling is used to simulate performance and range.
This page is for learners outside Vellore, Katpadi and Ranipet – NRIs, professionals in the Gulf and other countries, and students elsewhere in India who want Electric Vehicle Design taught live by a trainer.
An engineering or diploma background in electrical, electronics, mechanical or automobile is expected. Basic physics, electrical circuits and some comfort with a computer help; MATLAB is introduced in the course.
02Outcomes
03Syllabus
Every module and topic taught in the classroom batch is covered online. Open a level to see its modules.
Engineers who want to specialise in EV batteries, battery packs and battery management systems.
Electrical and mechanical engineers who want to design and simulate EV motors, drives and powertrains.
Beginners and engineers from any related branch who want a complete overview of EV systems, sensors and simulation.
04Tools covered
We provide training and instruction only. Software and licences are not included; use your own licence, or an educational or trial licence where the software maker offers one. See our Software & Licensing Policy. Certificates are skill-training certificates, not degrees or professional licences.
05Projects
Choose cells and size a pack for a target range using energy consumption over a driving cycle.
Map out charge/discharge control, cell balancing and thermal management for a given pack.
Work out torque, speed and power needs and select and size a suitable motor.
Build a MATLAB model to estimate the range of an electric scooter.
06How online works
Pick the mode that matches where you are and what you can travel for.
Trainer-led sessions on your own computer. Same syllabus, project and certificate as classroom batches. Evening, early-morning or weekend slots in your time zone.
Part online, part in the lab. Take lab sessions at Vellore, Katpadi or Ranipet when you visit India, and the rest online. Depends on trainer and lab availability.
Learn at our centres on any date that suits you and the trainer. Fast-track schedules possible. Partner-centre options in other cities are explored case by case.
