01About the course
What you will learn in Embedded Linux & Yocto
Embedded Linux is the Linux operating system running inside devices rather than on desktop PCs – routers, smart TVs, car infotainment units, medical monitors, industrial gateways and single-board computers like the Raspberry Pi. Engineers who work on it write C programs that use processes, threads and system calls, build kernel modules and device drivers, and connect hardware such as sensors, relays and cameras.
This page is for learners outside Vellore, Katpadi and Ranipet – NRIs, professionals in the Gulf and other countries, and students elsewhere in India who want Embedded Linux & Yocto taught live by a trainer.
You should know C programming basics such as pointers, functions and structures. For the Yocto course, prior comfort with the Linux command line and some embedded Linux exposure is recommended.

- Explain Linux architecture, kernel types, the file system layout and the boot process
- Use the Bash shell, editors such as vi and nano, and gcc to write and compile programs
- Write shell scripts with variables, pipes, loops and dialog-based interfaces
- Explain segmentation, paging and virtual memory in Linux
- Write process and POSIX thread programs using fork, exec, joining and cancellation
