Equipment and component makers
Design, tolerance and quality roles.
Faridabad and neighbouring Ballabgarh host engineering, tractor-and-equipment and auto-parts units on the Delhi border.
01Faridabad
Large equipment and component makers and a long supply chain of machine shops, fabricators and tool rooms fill the industrial sectors of Faridabad and Ballabgarh, and most workers commute within the NCR.
Suppliers need people who read drawings, program CNC machines and keep quality records.

05Careers
A mechanical design engineer turns a product idea into accurate 3D models, assemblies and 2D manufacturing drawings.
Day to day: prepare detailed 2D drawings with dimensions, tolerances, GD&T callouts and bill of materials; check assemblies for interference, clearance and motion before prototypes are made.
Skills employers ask for: Sheet metal and surface modelling; Design for manufacture and assembly (DFM/DFA); Engineering materials and manufacturing processes.
Where careers start: Trainee / CAD Draughtsman.
A CNC / CAM programmer converts a 3D model into toolpaths and G-code that a CNC lathe, milling machine or machining centre can follow.
Day to day: select tools, holders, speeds, feeds and depths of cut; simulate programs to check for gouges, collisions and missed material.
Skills employers ask for: Reading engineering drawings, tolerances and GD&T; Measuring instruments and first-piece inspection; Fixturing and work-holding methods.
Where careers start: CNC Operator / Trainee.
A piping designer plans how pipes, valves, pumps and equipment are arranged inside refineries, chemical plants, power stations, water treatment plants and pharma units.
Day to day: resolve clashes with civil, structural and electrical teams in model reviews; route pipelines and place valves and supports in the 3D PDMS model.
Skills employers ask for: PDMS 3D plant modelling; AutoCAD 2D piping drafting; Piping codes and standards awareness (ASME B31).
Where careers start: Piping Draughtsman.
