01About the course

What you will learn in HVAC Design

HVAC stands for Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning. HVAC design is the engineering work of deciding how much cooling or fresh air a building needs, choosing the right system – split, package, VRF or chilled water – and then sizing the ducts, pipes, fans and pumps that deliver it. The designer works with psychrometric charts, heat load sheets, software such as HAP and duct sizers, and AutoCAD drawings that go to the site.

This page is for learners outside Vellore, Katpadi and Ranipet – NRIs, professionals in the Gulf and other countries, and students elsewhere in India who want HVAC Design taught live by a trainer.

Basic computer use and some familiarity with AutoCAD commands will help. A mechanical background (thermodynamics, heat transfer basics) makes the calculations easier, but the course explains each concept from the start.

05Projects

Practice projects

Office floor heat load

Calculate the cooling load for a small office floor using design conditions, U-values and HAP, and pick the tonnage and system type.

Duct layout for a showroom

Size supply and return ducts by the equal friction method, check velocities and work out the ESP for the fan.

Commercial kitchen hood

Design a wall-type or island-type hood, calculate exhaust and fresh air, and draw the ducting in AutoCAD.

Basement car park ventilation

Calculate air changes, choose jet fans and draw the ventilation plan for a basement parking level.
