Udyambag and Machhe foundries
Pattern design, CAD and CNC roles.
Belagavi is known for foundries and an aerospace-components cluster, and it trades across the Maharashtra and Goa borders.
01Belagavi
Udyambag and Machhe host foundries, machine shops and hydraulics makers, a precision-aerospace supplier base has grown on the city’s outskirts, and its position near Maharashtra and Goa brings cross-border trade. Engineering colleges keep a steady supply of graduates.
Aerospace and foundry work rewards people who can read geometric tolerances, create 3D models and program CNC machines.
Pattern design, CAD and CNC roles.
GD&T, CATIA and quality inspection.
Accounts and GST.

07Study plan
At around seven hours a week, alongside college or work. Faster or slower is fine; finish each project before moving on.
04Your learning path
You will learn to
Project to build: Drawing mark-up exercise. Add feature control frames for flatness, perpendicularity, position and profile to a part drawing.
Tools covered: Bonus tolerance calculation, Form, orientation, location, profile and runout symbols, ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard, Hole-basis and shaft-basis systems, Limits, fits and IT grades.
Foundation level: Engineers, designers and quality staff who want a compact 16-hour course to read and apply GD&T on drawings.
You will learn to
Project to build: Sheet metal bracket. Design a bent bracket with flanges and hems, then unfold it to get the flat pattern.
Tools covered: Sketcher workbench, Wireframe and Surface Design, Specification tree and compass, Constraint and dress-up feature tools, Assembly Design.
Professional level: Engineers and designers who want an 80-hour, job-ready CATIA V5 programme – advanced part design, knowledgeware, large assemblies, advanced sheet metal, surfacing and full drawing detailing.
You will learn to
Project to build: Weldment supporting frame. Build a machine frame from structural members with gussets, end caps and a cut list.
Tools covered: SolidWorks Motion, Part modelling and multibody tools, PhotoView 360 rendering, Sheet metal design, Assembly design with mechanical mates.
Foundation level: Mechanical students, CNC operators and design engineers who want to turn SolidWorks models into planned CNC machining work.
You will learn to
Project to build: Flange plate. Program facing, contour and drilling operations for a bolted flange and simulate the cut.
Tools covered: Dynamic Motion toolpaths, 2D geometry and profile creation, Waterline, scallop, hybrid and raster finishing, Engrave and swept cuts, Contour, pocket, area and slot toolpaths.
Foundation level: Mechanical diploma and degree students, CNC operators and machinists who want to program CNC milling with Mastercam.
05Careers
A CNC / CAM programmer converts a 3D model into toolpaths and G-code that a CNC lathe, milling machine or machining centre can follow.
Day to day: simulate programs to check for gouges, collisions and missed material; support machine setters during first-piece runs and optimise cycle time.
Skills employers ask for: G-code and M-code basics; 2D and 3D CAM toolpath creation; Mastercam or NX CAM operations.
Where careers start: CNC Operator / Trainee.
A mechanical design engineer turns a product idea into accurate 3D models, assemblies and 2D manufacturing drawings.
Day to day: prepare detailed 2D drawings with dimensions, tolerances, GD&T callouts and bill of materials; check assemblies for interference, clearance and motion before prototypes are made.
Skills employers ask for: 2D drafting and drawing standards (ISO/ASME); Engineering materials and manufacturing processes; GD&T and tolerance stack-up basics.
Where careers start: Trainee / CAD Draughtsman.
An automotive design engineer designs the parts that make up a vehicle, such as body-in-white panels, plastic interior trims, brackets, seating structures or chassis components.
Day to day: prepare 2D drawings with GD&T for supplier release; apply design rules for draft, rib, boss and flange features.
Skills employers ask for: CATIA Part Design, Generative Shape Design and Assembly; Team communication and design documentation; Plastic part design rules.
Where careers start: Design Trainee.

Udyambag and Machhe host foundries, machine shops and hydraulics makers, a precision-aerospace supplier base has grown on the city’s outskirts, and its position A sensible order is GD&T first, then CATIA once you are comfortable.
SolidWorks is 3D CAD software from Dassault Systèmes. It is used to design parts and assemblies, sheet metal and weldments, and to create production drawings. It is common in machine building, fabrication and product design.
Essential in CATIA is 40 hours and Proficient in CATIA is 80 hours. Both cover sketcher, part design, assembly, sheet metal, wireframe and surface design and drafting; Proficient goes much deeper, with practice after every session.
Yes, from home. Classes are live with a trainer, recorded practice files are shared after each session, and the certificate is the same whether you learn online or in a classroom.
