Machine Learning Course in Vellore

Our Vellore centre on Anna Salai, near Raja Theatre, is in the middle of the city – easy to reach from the bus stands for a Machine Learning class before or after college or work. The work rests on statistics and is written in languages such as Python and R, using open-source libraries. This page covers two programmes: one in Python and a longer one using both R and Python.

The course runs as 2 programmes (56–96 h), from foundation to advanced level, so you can start where you are and go as far as you need. By the end you will be able to write Python programs using data structures, functions, modules, file handling and exception handling and describe data with central tendency, dispersion, probability distributions and correlation. The same syllabus and certificate apply at Katpadi, Vellore and Ranipet.

After Machine Learning, roles such as Junior Machine Learning Engineer, Data Scientist (Associate) and Data Analyst are the usual targets; from Vellore the nearest employers are Vellore’s hospitals, retail chains and leather and footwear units and the Bengaluru-highway belt.

Working through Machine Learning, you will learn to build classification models with Decision Tree, KNN, SVM, Naïve Bayes and Logistic Regression, build and compare Linear, Multiple, Poisson, Lasso and Ridge regression models and group data with hierarchical, k-means, k-Medoids and DBSCAN clustering and reduce dimensions with PCA.

You will work with R packages, Classification and regression algorithms and Clustering algorithms and PCA; the Course on Machine Learning programme includes modules such as Model Evaluation, Classification Algorithms and Regression Analysis.

Roles to aim for include Data Analyst – cleans and analyses data and uses statistics to answer business questions and ML Intern / Trainee – supports model building, data labelling and experiments in an AI team. Basic computer skills and school-level maths are needed. Some exposure to programming helps, but the course starts with Python (and R in the 96-hour course) from the basics.
