What does a SAP FICO Consultant do?
An SAP FICO consultant sets up and supports the finance side of SAP, the ERP system used by many large companies. FI covers financial accounting: general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset accounting and bank accounting. CO covers controlling, such as cost centres and profit centres. Consultants understand how a company's finance team works and configure SAP S/4HANA so that transactions, reports and period-end closing run smoothly.
Large manufacturers, IT service firms, SAP partners and shared service centres in Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad employ SAP finance professionals. Commerce graduates, accountants and MBA finance holders have a natural advantage because they already understand accounting. Freshers often start as SAP end users or support analysts and grow into consultant roles, and experience with the newer S/4HANA system is increasingly valued.
