What the AI for Engineers internship builds on
AI-Powered Smart Product Design is a certificate programme that shows how generative AI tools can speed up the early stages of product design. You learn to use AI to brainstorm ideas, generate concept options and illustrations, turn concepts into 3D models and create rendered images.
Working through AI-Powered Smart Product Design, you will learn to run an ideation session for a product using AI prompts and design briefs, generate and compare multiple AI-driven product concepts and create concept illustrations to communicate a design idea.
You will work with Generative AI prompting for design, AI image and illustration generation and AI concept generation; the Certificate in AI-Powered Smart Product Design programme includes modules such as Ideation, AI-Driven Concept Generation and Creating Illustrations.
Roles to aim for include Junior Product Designer – creates concepts, renders and early models for new products and Concept Designer – explores many design directions and presents options to the team. Basic computer and internet skills are needed. Some familiarity with a CAD tool such as Fusion 360 or SolidWorks is helpful for the 3D and PMI parts, but not compulsory.
