What the Artificial Intelligence internship builds on
Artificial intelligence (AI) is the field of building software that can learn from data, recognise images, understand text and make decisions. In practice, most AI work is done in Python using libraries such as OpenCV for images, NLTK for language and TensorFlow and Keras for neural networks.
Working through Artificial Intelligence, you will learn to explain what AI is, its history and its main applications, apply statistics essentials needed for AI and machine learning and write Python programs using control flow, functions, data structures, modules, file I/O and exception handling.
You will work with Python and its standard library, OpenCV for image and video processing and NLTK for natural language processing; the Course on Artificial Intelligence programme includes modules such as Introduction to AI and Statistics, Python Programming for AI and Machine Learning.
Roles to aim for include AI/ML Trainee Engineer – prepares data, trains models and tests them under senior engineers and Junior Machine Learning Engineer – builds and improves models for prediction and classification tasks. Basic computer skills and school-level maths are needed. Some programming exposure helps, though Python is taught from the beginning.
