Machine learning is a branch of artificial intelligence where a computer learns patterns from data instead of following fixed rules. You feed it past examples – sales, sensor readings, medical records, customer reviews – and it learns to predict, classify or group new data.

Working through Machine Learning, you will learn to write Python programs using data structures, functions, modules, file handling and exception handling, describe data with central tendency, dispersion, probability distributions and correlation and prepare and pre-process raw data for modelling.

You will work with Python, R and RStudio and Python standard libraries and packages; the Course on Machine Learning using Python programme includes modules such as Introduction and Python Essentials, Statistics for Machine Learning and Model Evaluation and Pre-processing.

Roles to aim for include Junior Machine Learning Engineer – prepares data, trains models and tests their accuracy under senior guidance and Data Scientist (Associate) – explores data, builds predictive models and explains findings to business teams. Basic computer skills and school-level maths are needed. Some exposure to programming helps, but the course starts with Python (and R in the 96-hour course) from the basics.
