What the Java internship builds on
Java is an object-oriented programming language first released by Sun Microsystems in 1995 and now maintained by Oracle. Java code compiles to bytecode that runs on the Java Virtual Machine (JVM), so the same program runs on Windows, Linux or macOS.
Working through Java, you will learn to explain the JVM and write Java programs with classes, objects, constructors and control statements, apply inheritance, polymorphism, abstract classes and interfaces in Java and handle exceptions, work with I/O streams, collections and multithreaded programs.
You will work with Java SE and JVM, IntelliJ IDEA and JDBC with MySQL and Oracle; the Course on JAVA programme includes modules such as Java Introduction, Classes, Objects, Arrays and Decisions and String Handling.
Roles to aim for include Java Developer – builds and maintains applications and back-end services in Java and Spring Boot Developer – creates REST APIs and microservices with Spring Boot. The Essential, Proficient and Course on JAVA programmes start from basics, so computer familiarity is enough. For the Course on Advanced JAVA you should already know core Java (classes, inheritance, exceptions and collections).
