How to become a Network / System Administrator
Keep an organisation's networks, servers and users running. Learn networking, Linux and cloud basics for IT infra jobs.
01The role
What does a Network / System Administrator do?
A network or system administrator keeps an organisation's IT backbone healthy. Network admins set up and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, Wi-Fi and VPNs, while system admins manage servers, user accounts, storage, backups and updates on Linux and Windows. Together they make sure staff can log in, share files, reach the internet and use business applications securely, and they are the first to respond when something breaks.
Hospitals, colleges, factories, banks, IT companies and data centres all need admins, including many in Vellore, Katpadi and Ranipet. With more workloads moving to the cloud, admins who also understand AWS basics are increasingly valued. The role is a solid entry into IT infrastructure and a stepping stone to cloud, DevOps and security careers. Practical lab work with real devices and Linux commands matters most.
