01What is Ethical Hacking

What is Ethical Hacking? In plain words.

Ethical hacking means testing computers, networks and applications with permission, using the same methods a real attacker would, so that weaknesses are found and fixed before someone misuses them. Ethical hackers follow a set process: gather information, scan, enumerate, try to gain access, and then report. This 68-hour course walks through that full process, from footprinting to web, wireless, mobile, IoT and cloud attacks.

Companies, banks and government bodies hire ethical hackers and penetration testers to check their systems regularly, often because audits and regulations require it. IT service firms and security consultancies run vulnerability assessment and penetration testing (VAPT) projects for clients in every sector. Employers want people who understand attack techniques, can use standard testing tools responsibly, and can write clear reports that tell developers and admins what to fix.

With VIT in Katpadi and many engineering colleges around Vellore, a lot of students here want to enter cyber security, and most security testing jobs are in Chennai and Bengaluru, both within easy reach. Training locally lets you build the skill before you move for work.

02Why learn it

Why learn Ethical Hacking now?

Six reasons students and professionals in Vellore district pick this skill.

Think like an attacker

Knowing how attacks actually work makes you far better at defending systems.

Full testing process

You follow the complete path from reconnaissance and scanning to access, covering tracks and reporting.

Wide attack coverage

The syllabus covers networks, systems, web apps, SQL injection, wireless, mobile, IoT, cloud and cryptography.

Countermeasures in every module

Each attack topic ends with how to prevent it, so you learn to advise on fixes, not just find problems.

VAPT is steady work

Regular security testing is required by many audits, which keeps demand for testers steady.

Legal and responsible

You practise only in lab environments and learn the scope and ethics that professional testers must follow.

Ask on WhatsApp
What is ethical hacking?

Ethical hacking is testing systems, networks and applications for weaknesses with the owner's permission. The goal is to find problems and help fix them before a real attacker does. It is a legal, professional job with clear rules on scope and reporting.

Who can join the ethical hacking course?

Engineering, BSc, BCA and MCA students and graduates, diploma holders in computer fields, IT staff and web developers can join. You should be comfortable with computers and know basic networking. The counsellor can suggest a networking or Linux course first if needed.

How long is the course?

Both programmes are 68 hours. The syllabus is planned as 34 sessions of about 2 hours each. The number of weeks depends on the batch timing you choose.

What is the difference between the two programmes?

Proficient in Ethical Hacking and Course on Ethical Hacking follow the same syllabus and hours. The difference is the partner that certifies the programme (CADD Centre or Livewire). The counsellor can explain which suits you better.

Is it legal to learn hacking?

Yes. You learn and practise only on lab machines and practice targets that are set up for training. The course also covers the scope and ethics a professional tester must follow; testing systems without permission is illegal.
