01What is BIM 360
What is BIM 360? In plain words.
BIM 360 is Autodesk's cloud platform for construction projects, now part of Autodesk Construction Cloud. Project teams use it to share models and drawings, coordinate design disciplines and track issues from one place. Much of the hands-on coordination work – combining architectural, structural and MEP models, finding clashes and linking the model to the schedule and quantities – is done in Autodesk Navisworks, which this course is built around.
Large building, infrastructure and industrial projects in India increasingly use BIM for coordination before construction starts. Finding a duct running through a beam on screen is far cheaper than finding it on site. Contractors, BIM consultancies and project management firms look for people who can review federated models, run clash tests, build 4D sequences and produce model-based quantities for estimates.
Hospitals, college campuses and industrial buildings are being built across Vellore and Ranipet, and larger BIM-driven projects run in Chennai and Bengaluru. Civil and architecture students from Katpadi and Vellore colleges can use coordination skills to reach these project teams.
