01The role
What does a BIM Modeller / Coordinator do?
A BIM modeller builds a detailed digital model of a building, with walls, floors, structure and services all carrying real information such as sizes, materials and quantities. A BIM coordinator goes one step further, combining models from architects, structural engineers and MEP teams, checking clashes and making sure everyone works from the same, up-to-date data. Together they help projects move from drawings to a shared, intelligent model.
Revit is the main modelling tool, Navisworks is used for clash review and 4D/5D studies, and BIM 360 keeps files, issues and reviews in a common cloud environment. Construction companies, consultants and BIM outsourcing firms in Chennai, Bengaluru and Coimbatore employ BIM teams for Indian and overseas projects.
