01What is SketchUp

What is SketchUp? In plain words.

SketchUp is a 3D modelling program from Trimble. It is known for its simple push/pull approach: you draw a shape and pull it into 3D. Architects, interior designers and civil engineers use it to model buildings, rooms, furniture and sites quickly, apply materials and shadows, and then turn the model into dimensioned drawings with SketchUp LayOut.

Architecture practices, interior design studios, modular furniture makers, builders and landscape designers use SketchUp to show clients a design before anything is built. Employers value it because a designer who can produce a quick, accurate 3D model and presentation saves meetings and rework. SketchUp models are also the starting point for rendering in V-Ray or Lumion.

Vellore, Katpadi and Ranipet have steady house construction, hospital and college building work, and many families now want to see a 3D view before they build or furnish. SketchUp skills also open doors to design studios in Chennai and Bengaluru.

What you will be able to do

  • Draw accurately with lines, shapes, arcs and inference locking
  • Build 3D forms with Push/Pull, Follow Me, Move, Rotate, Scale and Offset
  • Organise models with groups, components, dynamic components and the Outliner
  • Model a building from a photograph using Match Photo
  • Apply materials, textures, styles, fog, geo-location and real-time shadows
  • Create section cuts and camera scenes for client presentations
  • Model terrain, stairs, roofs and curved forms with Sandbox tools and plugins (Proficient)
  • Produce scaled, dimensioned 2D drawings in SketchUp LayOut

02Why learn it

Why learn SketchUp now?

Six reasons students and professionals in Vellore district pick this skill.

Quick to learn, quick to show

The push/pull method lets you build a room or elevation in a single session and show it to a client the same day.

Widely used in interiors

Interior and modular kitchen studios commonly ask for SketchUp for layouts, furniture and client walkthrough scenes.

From 3D to working drawings

SketchUp LayOut turns your model into scaled plans, sections and elevations with dimensions and text.

Plugins that save hours

The Proficient level teaches 1001bit Pro, Architect Tools, FFD, Flowify and True Bend for stairs, roofs, sites and curved forms.

Good base for rendering

A clean SketchUp model is exactly what V-Ray and Lumion need to create photo-real images.

Useful for freelancing

Many small builders and home owners need 3D views, so SketchUp skills can support part-time or freelance work.

Ask on WhatsApp
What is SketchUp?

SketchUp is a 3D modelling program from Trimble used to design buildings, interiors, furniture and landscapes. You draw shapes and pull them into 3D, add materials and shadows, and then create 2D drawings using SketchUp LayOut.

Who can join the SketchUp course?

Anyone with basic computer skills can join – architecture, interior and civil students, draughtsmen, builders and furniture designers. Knowing how to read a plan helps, but the course starts from the basics.

How long is each SketchUp level?

Essential in SketchUp is 40 hours and Proficient in SketchUp is 80 hours. Each session is followed by a practice exercise. Your weekly timetable depends on the batch you choose.

Which SketchUp level should I choose?

Essential covers drawing, modifying, groups, components, materials, scenes and LayOut. Proficient adds Sandbox terrain, solid tools, architecture plugins, interior design, lighting, furniture, cloth work and landscape – choose it if you want a design job.

What jobs and salary can I expect after learning SketchUp?

Common roles are 3D visualiser, junior interior designer, architectural assistant and modular furniture designer. Freshers usually start around ₹1.8–3.5 LPA, with more in metros or with a strong portfolio. These are indicative figures and depend on the company, city and your skills.

Can I take the SketchUp course online or in hybrid mode?

Yes. SketchUp training is offered in classroom, online or hybrid mode, depending on trainer availability at your chosen centre. The counsellor will confirm which batches and modes are open when you enquire.

Is there a free demo class?

You can ask for a demo or a counselling session at the Katpadi, Vellore or Ranipet centre before you join. It helps you see how classes run and meet the trainer. Message the centre on WhatsApp to book a slot.

Will I get a certificate?

Yes. On completing the programme and its assessments you receive a course certificate from the training partner through CareerKraft. It shows the exact programme title and can be added to your resume and LinkedIn profile.

Do you provide placement support?

Yes, we offer placement support: help with your resume and portfolio, mock interviews and sharing of job leads we come across. We do not promise or guarantee a job – your skills, practice and interview performance decide the outcome.

What is the fee for the SketchUp course?

Fees change with the level, mode and current offers, so we do not print them here. The counsellor at your chosen centre will share the current fee, any offers and EMI options on WhatsApp.

Do I need my own laptop?

Not for classroom batches, as lab systems are provided. For online or hybrid learning, a laptop with a dedicated graphics card is recommended for smooth 3D work; the counsellor can guide you on the configuration.

Which centre can I join and what are the timings?

The course runs at all three CareerKraft centres – Katpadi (Near Aascars Cinemas, Katpadi), Vellore (CSI Complex, Anna Salai, near Raja Theatre) and Ranipet (Krishnagiri Trunk Road, near SBI, Muthukadai). Centres are open Monday to Saturday 9:30 am–6:30 pm and Sunday 9:00 am–2:00 pm.
