What the 3ds Max for Engineers internship builds on
Autodesk 3ds Max is 3D modelling, rendering and animation software. You build objects from splines, primitives and editable polygons, shape them with modifiers, give them materials and textures, place lights and cameras, and then render still images or animations.
Working through 3ds Max, you will learn to navigate the 3ds Max interface, viewports, command panel and quad menus with confidence, model objects using splines, standard and extended primitives and compound objects and build doors, windows, stairs, walls and railings with AEC objects.
You will work with Autodesk 3ds Max, Editable Poly modelling and AEC objects (doors, windows, stairs, walls, railings); the Essential in Max for engineers programme includes modules such as Introduction to 3ds Max, 3ds Max Interface and Tools and Shapes and Geometry.
Roles to aim for include 3D Visualizer – creates realistic interior and exterior renders from architects' plans for client presentations and Interior Rendering Artist – models furniture, kitchens and rooms and produces textured, well-lit views for interior firms. Basic computer skills are enough to start. Knowing how to read a floor plan or an engineering drawing, and some AutoCAD, will help you model faster.
