See the full design journey early
In 16 hours you see how an idea becomes a drawing, a model and a validated design.
A short, hands-on introduction to how engineers turn an idea into a drawing, a 3D model and a checked design in civil, electrical or mechanical work.
01What is Design Thinking (SKEP)
SKEP stands for Systematic Knowledge Enrichment Program. These are short 16-hour complementary courses from CADD Centre, run as four sessions of four hours. Each one walks a student through the design thinking process and then shows how a real engineering design moves from a concept, to a 2D drawing, to a 3D model, and on to analysis. There are three versions: building design for civil, electrical design development and new product development for mechanical streams.
The courses are meant for first-year engineering, diploma, ITI and ITC students in Mechanical, Automobile, Aeronautical, Civil and Electrical branches. They do not make you an expert in any one software. Instead, they show you early how design offices actually work – BIM, quantity take-off, FEA, CAM, wiring and design automation with Python or macros – so you can choose your specialisation and later courses with a clear picture.
02Why learn it
Six reasons students and professionals in Vellore district pick this skill.
In 16 hours you see how an idea becomes a drawing, a model and a validated design.
Four sessions of four hours fit around college timetables and holidays.
Civil, electrical and mechanical students each follow a version built for their field.
You get introduced to BIM, FEA, CAM, 3D wiring and design automation concepts.
After SKEP you can decide more confidently between AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, Electrical CAD and similar programmes.
Design thinking gives you a method for understanding a need before jumping to a solution.
03Who can learn
Mechanical, Automobile, Aeronautical, Civil and Electrical students who want an early view of design work.
Polytechnic students who want to see how their subjects connect to design office tasks.
Trade students who want an introduction to drawings, 3D models and design software.
Students planning engineering or diploma studies who want to explore a branch first.
Anyone who wants to try building, electrical or product design before a longer course.
A short, structured programme for vacation time that builds a useful foundation.
04Levels & syllabus
3 programmes on one page. Pick a level to see its modules and every topic covered.
Civil and architecture-minded students who want to see how a building design moves from concept to BIM model, quantities and visualisation.
