How to become a UI/UX Designer
Design apps and websites that are easy and pleasant to use. Learn research, wireframing, Figma and web design.
01The role
What does a UI/UX Designer do?
A UI/UX designer makes apps and websites easy, clear and pleasant to use. UX (user experience) work focuses on understanding users, mapping their journeys, organising information and testing whether people can complete tasks. UI (user interface) work focuses on the visual layer: layouts, colours, typography, icons and interactive components. Together they turn a messy set of features into a product people actually enjoy using.
Designers typically work in tools such as Figma, creating wireframes, high-fidelity screens and clickable prototypes, then hand designs to developers. Product companies, IT firms, agencies and start-ups in Chennai and Bengaluru hire UI/UX designers, and remote and freelance work is common. People from engineering, arts, design and even commerce backgrounds can succeed if they build a portfolio of clear case studies.

UI/UX Designer – FAQ
Still have a question? The counsellor at the centre you prefer replies on WhatsApp.
Ask on WhatsAppWhat is the difference between UI and UX?
UX is about how a product works for users and whether it solves their problem. UI is about how it looks and feels on screen.
Do I need to know coding?
Not deeply. Basic HTML and CSS help you talk with developers and design realistic screens.
Is drawing skill required?
No. Clear thinking, empathy for users and good visual sense matter more than drawing.
Which tool should I learn?
Figma is the most widely used tool for UI/UX design and prototyping today.
What should a UX portfolio include?
