01What is UI/UX Design

What is UI/UX Design? In plain words.

UI/UX design is the work of planning how a website or app feels to use (user experience) and how it looks on screen (user interface). A UX designer studies real users, maps their tasks and tests early sketches. A UI designer then turns those plans into polished screens with the right colours, type, icons and layout. Together they decide where every button goes and why, so people can finish a task without confusion.

Every company that ships an app, a website or an internal software tool needs someone who can think like the user. Banks, e-commerce firms, IT service companies, start-ups and product companies all hire designers who can show a process: research, personas, user flows, wireframes, prototypes and usability test results. Employers ask for a portfolio more than a degree, which is why this course ends with a portfolio and project report.

With VIT and many engineering and arts colleges around Katpadi and Vellore, and IT and product firms in Chennai and Bengaluru within reach, a strong design portfolio built here can open doors to city jobs and remote work.

02Why learn it

Why learn UI/UX Design now?

Six reasons students and professionals in Vellore district pick this skill.

Design is now a core product skill

Apps compete on how easy they are to use, so companies want people who can plan screens around real user needs.

Portfolio beats marks

UI/UX roles are judged on the case studies you show, so a student from any background can compete with good work.

Research and visual skills together

You learn both halves of the job: understanding users through interviews and personas, and producing clean visual designs.

Works for web, mobile and tablet

The course covers layouts and prototypes for all three screen types, which is what real projects demand.

You also learn basic front-end code

HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery and Bootstrap help you talk to developers and hand over designs that can actually be built.

Freelance and remote friendly

Design work can be done for clients anywhere, which gives Vellore-based designers access to city and overseas projects.

03Who can learn

Who can join this course?

BE/BTech and BSc Computer Science students

Add a design skill to your coding knowledge and stand out for product and front-end roles.

BCA, MCA and IT graduates

Ask on WhatsApp
What is UI/UX design?

UX design is about planning how an app or website works for the user, based on research and testing. UI design is about how each screen looks: layout, colour, type and icons. This course teaches both, in the order real teams use them.

Who can join the UI/UX design course?

Any student or graduate who is comfortable with a computer can join. Engineering, BCA, BSc, arts, commerce and fine arts students all do well. Working professionals and women restarting careers are welcome too.

How long is the course?

The Course on UI/UX Designing is 80 hours. How many weeks it takes depends on the batch timing you choose; the counsellor will share the current schedule.

Do I need to know drawing or coding?

No. Sketching in this course means simple boxes and lines on paper. HTML, CSS and JavaScript are taught from the basics near the end of the course.

Is there only one level?

Yes, this page has one complete programme covering UX research, analysis, wireframing, prototyping, testing, visual design and basic front-end code. After it you can move to Web Design or Full Stack Development.

Can I take the course online or in hybrid mode?
