What the UI / UX Design internship builds on

UI/UX design is the work of planning how a website or app feels to use (user experience) and how it looks on screen (user interface). A UX designer studies real users, maps their tasks and tests early sketches.

Working through UI/UX Design, you will learn to plan a UX project using design thinking and user-centred design principles, conduct user interviews, surveys and stakeholder interviews and turn them into personas and user stories and build empathy maps, affinity maps and user journeys from research findings.

You will work with Design thinking and user-centred design process, Personas, empathy maps, affinity maps and user journeys and Site maps, information architecture and navigation models; the Course on UI/UX Designing programme includes modules such as Introduction to UX and Process Models, UX Research and Analysis.

Roles to aim for include UI Designer – designs screens, icons, colour schemes and layouts that match brand and platform guidelines and UX Designer – researches users, plans flows and wireframes, and tests designs before development starts. Comfortable computer and internet use is enough. An eye for detail and interest in how people use apps helps; no drawing or coding background is required.
